NEWS-BENDERS

NEWS BENDERS

In this live session we analyze the TV film “News-Benders” originally aired on January 10th 1968. The film shows how intelligence agencies and mainstream news journalists may collaborate, inventing disturbing news pieces in order to manipulate and control the unsuspecting public.

Does this film represent a version of the truth, hidden in plain sight, and disclosed as fiction to the public?

Here again, the power of fiction stands out – are all stories presented as fiction always purely fiction? Are stories presented as realities without any evidence actually real? Can fictions be promoted to hide the truth in plain sight? Can the truth be presented as fiction and be hidden as a fantasy? Moreover, how can people distinguish between truth and fiction if their lives are mostly ruled by fiction?
