This experimental video was conceived for a plenary  presentation at the 13th Biennial Conference of the  European Association of Social Anthropologists (EASA) entitled ‘ Collaboration, Intimacy and Revolution ‘ (see full program ). I edited the video in Shetland, and showed it to different people throughout the editing process. Stevie Hook mastered the audio in Lerwick, which was put together from different cameras and microphones. This composition aimed to show the variety of musics being played in Shetland and the sense of interpersonal knowledge that that active members of the sociomusical scene share. Yet, this latter nuance is not immediately accessible to viewers who are not familiar with people, places and events featured in the video. Local viewers, however, need no contextualization, for they see immediately who is who and where is where. This video represents a fraction of the media collected as part of my PhD ethnographic project over the course of 15 months.
